1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using NameRoot (available at nameroot.app), a service provided by Hundredfold Labs LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Description of Service

NameRoot is an AI-powered service that researches the etymology and meaning of family names and generates personalised family narrative stories, digital downloads, and framed art prints. Outputs are generated using large language models and are creative in nature.

3. AI-Generated Content

All narratives, etymological interpretations, and artwork produced by NameRoot are generated by artificial intelligence. While we strive for accuracy and quality, we make no guarantee that any content is factually accurate, complete, or suitable for genealogical or legal purposes. Content should be treated as creative and interpretive, not as historical fact.

4. Purchases and Payments

• All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your payment card information.
• Prices are displayed in USD. Taxes and duties may apply depending on your location.
• Print orders are fulfilled by Prodigi and shipped to the address provided at checkout. Shipping times are estimates and not guaranteed.
• Digital downloads are delivered via email immediately upon successful payment.
• All sales are final except as described in our refund policy below.

5. Refund Policy

We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on framed print orders. If you are not satisfied with the quality of your print, contact us within 30 days of delivery at dan@nameroot.app for a replacement or full refund. Digital products are non-refundable once the story email has been delivered.

6. Promo Codes

Promotional codes may be issued at our discretion for free digital access. Codes are non-transferable, have no cash value, and may be deactivated at any time. Abuse of promotional codes may result in order cancellation.

7. Intellectual Property

Upon purchase, you receive a personal, non-commercial licence to use the generated content (narrative, artwork, and digital files) for personal use, including printing and sharing with family. You may not resell, redistribute, or use the content for commercial purposes without written permission from Hundredfold Labs LLC.

8. Privacy

Your use of NameRoot is also governed by our Privacy Policy, incorporated here by reference.

9. Disclaimers

NameRoot is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hundredfold Labs LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of your use of NameRoot. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the order giving rise to the claim.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Travis County, Texas.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of NameRoot after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. The "Last updated" date above will reflect any changes.

1. Who We Are

NameRoot is operated by Hundredfold Labs LLC, based in Texas, United States. Contact: dan@nameroot.app.

2. Information We Collect

• Family names and relationships — first, middle, and last names plus roles (e.g. Father, Mother) that you enter to generate your story. We do not collect dates of birth, Social Security numbers, or government identifiers.
• Email address — to deliver your story and order confirmation.
• Shipping address — collected by Stripe at checkout for print orders only. We receive this to fulfil your order with Prodigi.
• Payment information — processed entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number or CVV.
• Usage data — standard web logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) collected automatically by Cloudflare.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To generate and deliver your personalised family story and artwork.
• To process and fulfil print orders via Prodigi.
• To send transactional emails (story delivery, order confirmation) via Resend.
• To improve the quality of our AI pipeline.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. AI Processing

The names and relationships you enter are sent to Anthropic's Claude API and Google's Gemini API for story generation. These services process your data under their own privacy policies. We transmit only the names and roles necessary — no other personal data is sent to AI providers.

6. Data Retention

Session data (names, generated story, art) is stored for up to 90 days to support order look-ups and reprints, then deleted. Email addresses are retained for up to 1 year for customer support.

7. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing dan@nameroot.app. We will respond within 30 days. EEA residents have additional rights under GDPR including data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

8. Children's Privacy

NameRoot is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us immediately if you believe a child has submitted personal information and we will delete it promptly.

9. Cookies

NameRoot uses no first-party tracking cookies. Cloudflare may set technical cookies for security and performance. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.

10. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Session data is stored in Cloudflare D1 with encryption at rest. Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe's PCI-DSS compliant infrastructure.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will reflect any changes. Continued use of NameRoot after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
